Abraham Lincoln Wax Statue Melts From Extreme Heat in Washington, D.C.

If you’re in the U.S., you’re either just coming out of or in the middle of a heat wave. Our increasingly hot summers can be devastating for our health, but at least we’re not made of wax. This past week, a Washington, D.C. sculpture of the nation’s 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, became another casualty of global warming. In fact, poor Abe has suffered quite a bit this past year.

Surreal Sculptures of Fragmented “Travelers” Pop Up in New York City

New York City always has plenty of options for art lovers, but it has recently added thought-provoking sculptures along Park Avenue in Murray Hill. Bruno Catalano‘s Travelers have been displayed around the world, turning heads from Italy to Singapore.  They've finally landed in NYC. Combined with a companion show at Galeries Bartoux, this is the artist's first major solo exhibition in the United States.

Artist Gives Scrap Metal Second Life by Transforming It Into Stunning Sculptures

After metal products are no longer needed, they often wind up in a landfill. Everything from car parts to cutlery can end up being disposed of in this way, even though they could probably be recycled and used again. This is where artist Brian Mock comes in. For decades, Mock has been sculpting using the metal that he finds exclusively in landfills, repurposing scrap and giving it a second life.
